Nintendo Switch Sports is now officially available (at least in some parts of the world), and as usual with a new game these days, Nintendo has released a Day 1 update. In the case of Switch Sports, version 1.1.0 will open access to online games.

Here are the full patch notes, courtesy of Nintendo’s Japanese support page:

Ver. 1.1.0 [2022.4.28]

– Now you can play in the “Play with people from all over the world” mode.
– Now you can play “Play with friends” [online] mode.
– Fixed some issues to make the game more comfortable.
* You need the latest updates to play Online Elements.

And here is Nintendo’s tweet about version 1.1.0, translated by Google:

“We are distributing the update Ver.1.1.0 of the Nintendo Switch software “Nintendo Switch Sports” released today. By downloading this update data, you will be able to play “Play with people around the world” and “Play with friends modes”.

As noted, this update is essential if you really want to join in on the fun and games. Nintendo data developer OatmealDome also shared some additional details about the game’s backend, noting how some additional sports have text links and how they have “the same netcode style” as Party Super Mario.
