Ultra Kaiju Monster Rancher coming to Nintendo Switch in 2022

Update [Sat 2nd Jul, 2022 07:00 BST]: Following the Japanese announcement of the Nintendo Direct Mini earlier this week, Bandai Namco confirmed a western release at this year’s Anime Expo. This will be a digital release of the Switch eShop here in the west. Above is the trailer.

Original [Wed 29th Jun, 2022 06:45 BST]: There were some additional Switch announcements yesterday at the Nintendo Direct Mini in Japan, and in case you missed it, one of them was Ultra Kaiju Monster Rancher. It is published by Bandai Namco and developed by Koei Tecmo and will be launched this year in Japan and Asia. No Western release is yet known, but it includes English subtitles.

As you may have guessed from the title, this is a collaboration between Ultraman franchise, as well as a series of monster farming simulations, Monster Rancher – which is currently 25 years old. This new game is described as a kaiju training simulation using basic systems Monster Rancher as well as Monster Ranch 2 – allows you to lift all types of Ultra Kaiju.

Players will have the opportunity to grow Kaiju by feeding, training, studying and traveling. You will then fight them and even link them together. This game will also support NFC technology and IC cards that can be scanned using Switch controls. Once again, no word on a local release, but if we hear anything we’ll be sure to let you know.
