UK charts: FIFA 23 ousts Splatoon 3 from number one
The latest UK boxed chart data is here (after a slight delay), and as expected, EA’s FIFA 23 took first place, knocking Splatoon 3 off after a few weeks at number one.
Keep in mind that this first place cannot be attributed to the Switch, as the Nintendo console only accounts for 6% of total sales (PS5 brought in 41%, PS4 brought in 30%, and Xbox One brought in 17%). This shouldn’t come as a surprise as the Switch is once again getting a few Legacy Edition game updates and we see no incentive to go out and buy it – as reflected in our unimpressed 2/10 review.
Elsewhere this week was Return of the Jedi, if you will, as Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga returned to number three after spending the past few weeks at or completely off the bottom of the chart.
Of course, it wouldn’t be the UK charts without the big names, and strong numbers are again visible this week for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Nintendo Switch Sports, Minecraft, Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Pokémon Legends: Arceus. do they ever slow down?
