Toby Fox Shares Brief Game Development Update, Says Everything Is ‘Going Good’

Famous Undertale and Deltarune creator Toby Fox shared a very brief update on the development of the game via social media.

After showing off some of his concept art, he mentioned that the development of his game was “going well”. He has good feelings about this, and also noted that more and more people are helping him lately.

We assume he is referring to the remaining chapters of Deltarune. Chapter 2 was released for free on the Switch eShop last September following a Nintendo Direct presentation. He is currently working on additional chapters, and until It is reported that seven chapters are on the way.

In a previous update, Fox also mentioned how he hired a team of people to help him during the development of Chapter 2:

“The time it took to develop Chapter 2 itself was actually a year and a half. There were a lot of things before we could start full-scale development. However, three years is a long time… I’m a little sorry for making everyone wait so long…

I programmed “Chapter 1” and “UNDERTALE” by myself, but now I can’t program for a long time because I hurt my wrist. So “Chapter 2” is about 90% programmed by another member of the team. Yes, from that time on I became a director (imagine a professional dog in a beret).

Since development is going well, hopefully this means chapters 3, 4 and 5 will be released sooner rather than later. When they arrive, they will presumably be released together, at which point players will be required to purchase the game. Here is what he said during blog update last September:

“My next goal is to complete chapters 3, 4 and 5 in next time. Then, at this time, I will ask people to buy the game, at the price of the first 5 chapters (including 1 and 2). I don’t know the price yet, but it will definitely cost more than UNDERTALE.”

Are you looking forward to the rest of the Deltarune chapters? Have you played the first two chapters yet? Leave a comment below.
