For many of us, this summer’s game was marked by Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge, a game so addicting that we called it “the best Turtles beat ’em up game ever made” in our glowing review. Since Focus Entertainment has just released its latest quarterly financial report (thank you, Go Nintendo), we were interested to see what the turtles managed to bring to the company, and it looks like they succeeded.
According to a summary of reports in Game developerFocus Entertainment took the time to praise Dotemu – one of its sister divisions and publishers of Shredder’s Revenge – for doing a good job with the game, announcing that the Turtles earned €22.9 million (roughly $22 million) in the second quarter.
Back in July, we reported that Shredder’s Revenge sold over a million copies within its first month of release, and these earnings figures seem to suggest that number may have doubled since then.
While these numbers are good for the game itself, the report wasn’t as optimistic about Focus Entertainment’s overall health. The company reported a 38% year-over-year drop in revenue, in line with the steady decline we’ve seen in the video game industry throughout 2022.
However, according to Focus Entertainment, this was not a big surprise. The company didn’t have any major releases in the second quarter, so its Q2 guidance doesn’t differ too much from its overall earnings.
Whatever the case, it’s nice to see Shredder’s Revenge performing well. If ever there was a reason to continue, it’s… Hint Hint.
