We saw bundle cool merch to celebrate pokemon 25th, but one collaboration that has passed us by so far is the hand-built series. Headphones Grado Labs.
Laboratories Grado — which was founded in Brooklyn back in 1953 — manufactures high-quality headphones and phono cartridges for turntables.
The company released a series of four different Pokemon-themed headphones: three sets of Poké Ball headphones (wood with red headband, wood with black headband, aluminum) and a pair of Pikachu headphones (black aluminum).
Here is some PR:
Our favorite collaborative projects are the ones that push us to create something different from what we’ve been doing for decades, and this is a very good fit for that. To combine functionality and design, we created a new pokeball-shaped ventilation system. If this design didn’t meet our standards, it wouldn’t move forward. Luckily, not only do they sound great, they are one of our favorite designs we’ve ever used on headphones.
Each driver is tuned to the body material and individually matched for sound consistency as we strive to find the perfect balance between body material and driver. This process allows the headphones to take full advantage of the color and impact of the maple wood, as well as the purity and rendering of the metal.
Rounding out the four pairs are two made of aluminium. The Aluminum Poké Ball Headphones are crafted from a wooden Poké Ball that combines metal and maple. The last pair has a wooden Pikachu medallion paired with black aluminum, another first for us. An extremely detailed presentation is laid out on the shells of these special headphones.
