Rare release for Nintendo 64 in 1997 goldeneye 007 possibly one of the greatest video games of all time. The Xbox 360 version leaked last year, and since then there have been rumors of this classic first-person shooter returning in one form or another.

Now, ahead of next week Presentation of games for Xbox and Bethesda, achievements for the game appeared on the official Xbox website. As described on our sister website Pure Xbox:

“Each achievement is also accompanied by a screenshot from the game and they seem to show that its graphics are very similar to the original N64 version, in particular the character models look very blocky and poor quality.”

In addition to this, Rare employees have reportedly been spotted playing on the Xbox. This discovery comes through True Achievements is a site known for tracking Xbox Achievement activity.

Rare lead engineer James Thomas (known by the gamertag “BIGsheep”), apparently the one who was caught unlocking achievements (again). Thomas previously worked on N64 ports for Rare repeat and was spotted six months ago showing off the achievements in this yet-to-be-announced release.

While there have been rumors that GoldenEye 007 will arrive much earlier this year, it is believed that the Russian invasion of Ukraine may have resulted in a possible delay. These updates also followed the discovery that GoldenEye 007 was no longer banned in Germany, which had previously led to speculation of a possible re-release.

Of course, the big question for Nintendo is will this game come to Switch? Is there some more a little debate about what exactly this new version might be, which could determine the platforms on which it will be available.

If we receive any updates, we will let you know.
