A short teaser has been released that shows the “exclusive features” they come to PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds with the release of his new card, Taego. It’s only a few seconds, but there’s enough to suggest a few additions – in particular a player is shown on his knees with a medkit, which has been interpreted as a self-pickup ability for downed players.
The clip also shows a Chinook helicopter (like the ones that could be shot down for care packs on the Paramo chart), an expanding blue energy sphere as an inverted version of PUBG’s contracted environment, and a pair of new 5.56 mm rifles: a Mark 12 DMR and a K2 assault rifle, which is shown fired from a new vehicle, a Hyundai Pony Coupe. That would be appropriate, since Taego is a Korean company and both Hyundai and K2 come from Korea (it is the standard service rifle of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Korea).
Taego is the first full-size 8×8 card that PUBG has had since Miramar, and gamers are also expecting it to come with “gulag island” that allows for revival, a return mechanic similar to that of Call of Duty: Warzone. It will be part of the 12.2 update that will arrive on July 7th. The next card after Taego is called “Kiki,” and the conceptual art suggests a city landscape. That should come later in the year.
