The Game Awards has a “world premiere” that the developers have been working on for 2.5 years, and we can assume that this is Zelda

Game Awards are just around the corner, and a number of Nintendo games in various categories are poised to win awards. Perhaps the highlight of the lot is Metroid dread, which is declared the Game of the Year.

However, the show is not only about awards. It’s also about announcements, and once again, presenter and organizer Jeff Kayley is generating a hype on social media about what comes next. In his most recent Twitter post, he teases a “world premiere” that the team has worked with a developer on for 2.5 years.

As seen below, a number of Zelda fans have celebrated the sequel. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was announced about 2.5 years ago. While some doubt it will be this particular game, as it is called a “world premiere”, it was also noted that The Game Awards hosted the world premieres of games that have been shown before.

And keep in mind that this new Zelda game still doesn’t have an official name. Earlier this year, Nintendo even said it was holding back the title so as not to reveal too much information, and advised fans to “stay connected.”

2021 also marks 35 years of The Legend of Zelda. So far, Nintendo has shared a teaser trailer for the new game at E3 this year (see above), so there’s still time to add to the celebration at The Game Awards. It has also been rumored for a while that Zelda will appear on the show this year, and we are still waiting for the return of Wind Waker and Twilight Princess based on rumors that surfaced earlier this year.

This year’s Game Awards show will air live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on December 9th. There will be awards, “world premieres”, musical performances and more. Voting is also still openand you can see all the games featured in our previous post. What do you think this big discovery could be? Even if it has nothing to do with Zelda, do you think we’ll see a sequel to Breath of the Wild on this year’s show? Leave a comment below.
