The 2021 Mortal Kombat Movie Reboot Is Getting a Sequel

Last year came back Mortal Kombat on the big screen, and it seems like the reboot was successful enough to get a sequel.

According to a Deadline exclusive, New Line has hired Jeremy Slater to write the script. Mortal Kombat 2 screenplay – head writer for upcoming Marvel/Disney+ series moon knight. Other than that, nothing is known about the sequel yet, but according to Slater, it will be “bigger, better and bloodier”:

The Mortal Kombat (2021) reboot debuted in theaters and on HBO Max last April, with a US box office gross of $22.5 million, which isn’t bad considering the adult rating and other factors like the pandemic.
