November has been a pretty big month for Nintendo. Not only that, the last generation Pokemon launching with Scarlet and Violet, but the Switch has also benefited from the usual Black Friday deals that inevitably pop up every year.
Such a powerful combination is sure to lead to impressive sales and, according to games industry Christopher Dring, Switch was the best-selling console in November in the UK with an increase of around 175% from the previous month (exact sales figures are unfortunately not available). The Pokémon Scarlet and Violet OLED models only accounted for about 8% of total console sales, although it’s clear that the launch of the latest generation of Pokémon has given the Switch family a significant boost for UK audiences in general.
The Xbox Series X and S consoles also posted impressive sales in November, up about 105%. This was largely due to the generous £60 discount on the S Series, which was the top-selling individual SKU of the month.
In terms of gaming, there are a few noteworthy surprises here. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II came out on top, God of War Ragnarok and FIFA 23 followed suit. Pokémon Violet and Pokémon Scarlet placed fourth and fifth respectively, however, according to Dring, had the games been combined, they would have placed third. Sonic Frontiers also sold well, peaking at number seven, no doubt securing the franchise’s future as an “open area” game series.
Here are the top 20 games for November in the UK (be aware that digital data is not available for games on Switch):
