Switch Online Surpasses 32 Million Subscriptions, Nintendo Says It Will Continue To “Improve And Expand” The Level Of Expansion Packs

During the last Corporate Governance Briefing, it was revealed that its paid subscription – Nintendo Switch Online – has over 32 million members as of September 2021.

The last significant figure was in September 2020, when the company said it had over 26 million users. According to the latest update, the number of subscribers has increased again thanks to the growing Switch hardware installation base, which now stands at 92.87 million units.

As usual, the company again mentioned how it will “continue to improve and expand” the service. It is also officially announced how this will include improvements to the new Expansion Pack level. Unfortunately, he did not share individual Expansion Pack subscriber numbers, and perhaps never.

“In the future, we will continue to improve and expand both Nintendo Switch Online and Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack, striving to provide services that meet customer needs.”

The expansion pack was announced and released very recently and includes two new retro libraries – Nintendo 64 and Sega Mega Drive / Genesis. In addition to this, Nintendo added Animal Crossing: New Horizons DLC – Happy Home Paradise.

This new tier of premium hasn’t received the warmest welcome from Switch fans due to a slew of pricing and cost issues and concerns about the quality of the N64 emulation. The official trailer for the new service (see above) has also become the most objectionable video on Nintendo’s YouTube channel.

Are you subscribed to Nintendo Switch Online? Did you buy the expansion pack level? Would you like Nintendo to improve and expand this service to satisfy its customers? Leave your thoughts in the comments.
