Switch Exclusive Sports Story Officially Released

Sports Story, the sequel to the 2017 Switch-exclusive Golf Story, has been released.

Nintendo announced the release on Friday and immediately listed the game on their Nintendo eShop for $14.99 / £12.80. The game was previously confirmed for a December window.

The highly anticipated sports RPG was first announced during the Nintendo Indie World Showcase in December 2019 and was originally slated for a mid-2020 release, but was delayed due to developer Sidebar Games’ “ambitious” plans.

The game expands on the golf-focused original with tennis, fishing, dungeons, mini-games, and more.

Golf Story received positive reviews upon its release in September 2017 and was nominated for Best Debut and Best Debut Indie Game at the GDC Awards and The Game Awards.

“In this all-out sports RPG, you’ll rise through the ranks of the world of sports and prove your mettle on the golf course, tennis court, and soccer field,” reads the official product description.

“As you increase your sports rank, you will unlock even more disciplines, including BMX, volleyball, cricket and more. But the game is not only about sports: take a train or helicopter to explore dungeons, abandoned ruins and the mysterious Wildlands, or relax in the mall with its daily attractions, specialty sports shops and mini-games.
