Summer Games Made Fast Growth Over $ 2.9 Million

Games Done Quick events are at the forefront of the speedrun culture and also raise incredible amounts of money. Last week brought us the 2021 Rapid Summer Games, which were again run virtually with the money raised going to Doctors Without Borders / Doctors Without Borders.
A whole week of 24-hour streams naturally had a bunch of iconic games involved, including all sorts of Nintendo classics. There was one Super Metroid run, as always, and the full run line is archived on the Games Made Quick YouTube Channel.
One session that we enjoyed the most was a rather sympathetic and unlikely run of it Nintendogs, Although the popular puppet love had some brief struggles.
As always the key legacy of these events is their exceptional fundraising, and the closing total has been set at $ 2,904,585.35, from over 40,000 donations. It’s the highest amount the organization has collected in its online-only events last year – an incredible success.
