Spotlight on Atelier Sophie 2 coming February 25th – PlayStation.Blog

Sophie Neuenmüller has been such a magical character to me since we first introduced her six years ago in Atelier Sophie: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Book, and I know many fans reading this feel the same way. When I was thinking about what we could do for the 25th anniversary of the Atelier series, I thought of a game that would keep the atmosphere of the Atelier series, but also be an extension of it, and came up with the idea of Atelier. Sophie 2: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Dream – Sophie returns as the main character. This game immerses Sophie in a mysterious fairy tale world as she embarks on a touching adventure to find her lost friend, and I think it’s a great storyline and adventure that our passionate fans have been waiting for.

On her journey, Sophie meets many characters who join her quest in both the storyline and battles. This time we’ve changed the order of the battles a bit – for the first time in the Atelier series, the battle starts smoothly, without loading times or separate screens. In Atelier Sophie 2, battles involve up to six party members who are divided into two teams: an assault team of three members in front, and a reserve team of three members in the back. While characters can sometimes be moved between teams during battle, each character has different strengths and weaknesses to consider when placing in battle.

Before the release on PlayStation 4 on February 25, I wanted to give everyone a quick look at six key characters and show how each of them complements each other in combat.

Sophie Neuenmüller

The main lady of the title, Sophie, is an alchemist. Her play style is suited to using items and helping allies in combat. Her passive skills increase her resistance to status effects and allow her to recharge the power of any item she uses, so it’s best to use crafted alchemy items. Most of her skills consist of magical attacks, and some allow her to buff her allies. Her health and defense stats are quite low, but her MP and speed stats are higher to explain this.

Also an alchemist, Plakhta is skilled at using items, especially those with debuffs that can be enhanced. Her skills are mainly focused on inflicting status effects on enemies, making her an excellent counter to enemies. She has low health and speed, but she is quite a unique character because she has a combination of high MP and defense. You need to make sure Plakhta is close at hand in order to lower the abilities of very strong enemies.

The last alchemist on the team, Ramizel is a versatile character with high attack and well-balanced stats. Not only does she use skills that enhance her physical attacks, but she can also heal allies and cancel their status effects. Like our other alchemists, she’s good at using support items. She is an invaluable character to have on your team to ensure that the squad is at full health.

Alette may have low attack skills, but she makes up for it with her speed. Her skills allow her to maintain the effect for several turns and allow her to play both an offensive and support role. I suggest trying it both offensive and supportive to see how it works best for you.

Of all the party members, Olias has the highest attack stats. As an attacker, his passive skill increases his attack stats every time he defeats an enemy. Like Plahta, he is good at inflicting debuffs on enemies, although with less efficiency. I recommend assigning Olias as a damage dealer and other characters healing and buffing him.

Last but not least, Diebold. This tank has higher health and defense compared to other characters, but its MP and speed are lower. His high defense helps him withstand attacks that will overwhelm other characters. He can even lure enemies and reduce their attack power when he is near him. Diebold acts as a great damage absorbing shield in combat, but make sure other characters heal him.

For me, experimenting with different battle formations and character customizations is one of the most fun new aspects of the game. I’d love to hear from the fans about their favorite setups when Atelier Sophie 2: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Dream comes out next month. I can’t wait to see everyone’s reaction to Sophie’s big comeback.
