Sony Introduces PlayStation Stars, New Player Loyalty Program

Sony is launching its first ever loyalty program for the PlayStation called PlayStation Stars. According to Chen, earning points may require “winning tournaments, earning certain trophies, or even being the first player to earn a platinum blockbuster title in your local time zone.” PlayStation Stars will also have a “monthly registration” campaign that players complete by simply playing the game.

You can redeem points for rewards, which may include PSN wallet funds or certain PS Store products. Users who also subscribe to PlayStation Plus receive the added benefit of automatically earning loyalty points for their purchases.

Loyalty points can also be spent on “digital collectibles”. The examples described in the post are digital figurines of game characters or old PlayStation devices. chase.

These collectibles may sound like NFTs, but they’re not. As Chen categorically explains in Washington Post interview, these digital items cannot be traded or traded, and PlayStation Stars does not use blockchain technology in any way.
