Developer Frogwares has unveiled the first gameplay trailer for the upcoming modern retelling of Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened.
The game has been rebuilt from the ground up for modern platforms and takes Sherlock Holmes into Lovecraftian territory as he investigates a series of mysterious disappearances that plunge him into the heart of the Cthulhu Mythos. Its release is currently slated for “early 2023”.
The new trailer showcases interesting gameplay that certainly looks like a cross between previous Frogware titles. Sherlock Holmes titles and his Lovecraftian adventure The Sinking City. However, it goes without saying that with the trailer available in 4K resolution, the footage you see is 100%. No from the Switch version, so keep that in mind.
Here’s a reminder of the main features from the game’s Steam page:
– Explore the Cthulhu Mythos as H. P. Lovecraft imagined them, and encounter otherworldly horrors beyond human comprehension.
– Fight the encroachment on madness, looking for answers to questions that have no rational explanation.
– Find clues that will guide you through the famous Baker Street in London, the haunted psychiatric hospital in Switzerland, the dangerous swamps of Louisiana and more.
– 2008 title reimagined: rebuilt from the ground up in Unreal Engine, Sherlock Holmes: Awakening boasts state-of-the-art graphics and animations, an expanded storyline, numerous side quests and new mechanics, including unique crazy gameplay.
Frogwares previously spoke with Nintendo Life about making games like The Sinking City, managing Switch ports, and the challenges the Ukrainian team faced following the Russian invasion earlier this year. Check it out below:
