SEGA and Tencent also decided to skip E3 this year

After yesterday’s news that Ubisoft is pulling out of this year’s E3, it seems like a few more third-party publishers have decided not to participate in this year’s event.
According to IGN, neither Sega nor Chinese video game giant Tencent will be in attendance. In a statement, Sega mentioned that it would not be involved and hoped to share “more information on announced and unannounced projects in the future.”
Tencent confirmed through a representative that their developer Level Infinite (Honor of kings, PUBG Mobile) will also not be at the event this year.
IGN also received a response from Devolver Digital, and although the publisher never officially attended the event, he confirmed that there would be no physical presence nearby as in previous years. However, he will still continue his annual Devolver Direct this June.
Bandai Namco also provided a response, noting that it will be attending the Geoff Keighley Play Days event, but has not confirmed if it will be at E3 this year.
The same report mentioned that there are now rumors that this year’s E3 may not take place, with one “informed source” claiming that “this show cannot take place”. Ubisoft’s departure from the event followed the departure of Nintendo and Microsoft, and Xbox decided to hold its own showcase.
Full disclosure: Nintendo Life and its Hookshot Media sister sites partner with event organizer E3 ReedPop.
