School Girl Ninja Hack ‘N Slash Samurai Maiden Coming to Switch December 8th
Last month, publisher D3 announced that it would be releasing a hack and slash for a ninja schoolgirl. samurai maiden on Nintendo Switch this winter.
Now, according to the Tokyo Game Show, the release date has been fixed. The game will arrive in Japan (physically and digitally) on December 1st, followed by a digital-only release in the west on December 8th this year.
The story follows a schoolgirl, Tsumigi Tamaori, who is summoned in a dream during the Sengoku period of history. Here she must team up with new friends and use her amazing sword skills to defeat the evil undead at Honnōji Temple:
“SAMURAI MAIDEN follows the story of a high school student who falls asleep after a boring day of history class and wakes up next to historical figure Nobunaga Oda, known as Japan’s first great unifier. The two find themselves in the burning temple of Honnōji, where the underworld has opened up. While learning the art of sword fighting as a hobby, Tsumugi is suddenly put to the test in real-life combat as a desperate Nobunaga Oda gifted her with an evil ward blade that strides into the underworld to end the calamity. Even Tsumugi, admittedly a poor student of history, recognizes Oda as a hero of the Sengoku period and understands that she must be at the height of this strange case.
Players can look forward to “destroying swarms of undead enemies” with Tsumugi’s sword skills ranging from combo attacks to powerful counters. Along the way, she will also be assisted by some other ninjas and allies.
There will be unlockable special abilities and a system that allows you to combine these fighting styles:
“On their journey, players will be able to use the ‘Gokage System’, which allows them to quickly combine Tsumugi’s sword style with powerful Gokage ninjutsu. From the samurai’s slashing and piercing attacks to the yin-yang freezing ninja’s wire arm. jutsu and various kunai attacks, players will be able to use these two types of attacks to cut through a horde of undead enemies.”
