With Kingdom hearts“Sora is the last Super Smash Bros. Ultimate fighter in the DLC, and the game’s very ambitious and downright ridiculous lineup is finally complete. The game, of course, was a huge success and, no doubt, will forever be remembered by fighting game fans, but what next?
It usually doesn’t take long for a discussion of Smash to move on to the next big event, so it’s no surprise that series director Masahiro Sakurai has already begun discussing the future of the series. He is the star of the latest Japanese magazine Famitsu, and excerpts from the first interviews are starting to appear on the Internet.
Here is an overview of some early quotes with translations from Siliconra:
“I don’t think about a sequel. I don’t think about it every time. However, I cannot say with certainty that this is the end Smash… “
“I need to think if I need to release Smash game or not, even if I have to do something that will disappoint users. “
“At present I do not see the way where Smash can be produced without me. “
“To be honest, we did try to pass it on to someone else, but it didn’t work.”
“If the series continued, I would have to talk to Nintendo and discuss whether it would be successful or not. I have to seriously think about this topic. “
There will no doubt be more translations in the next few days with additional context, so we’ll be sure to share any noteworthy news from the full coverage of Famitsu soon.
