Super Smash Bros. Ultimate got his last hurray, and now he will gracefully leave for the sunset of confessions, controversies about Sora and competitive tournaments. Platform fighter Nintendo (that’s the name of the genre) leads the way in this particular kingdom, but has had to face some rivals. We recently had Nickelodeon All-Star Game who pay a lot of attention to SpongeBob in order to attract players; early indications show it wasn’t as successful (was it? Ed.) as the publisher hoped.

However, there is often talk of other IP-holding powers hoping to find a magic formula and challenge the Nintendo franchise. The latest rumor suggests that Warner Bros. is actively working on a platform fighter, at least according to this. Reddit post… This is corroborated by already familiar in the industry chatterbox Jeff Grubb, although there is disagreement over who is developing the game. Not exactly specific rumors, but definitely feels attainable.

Perhaps the most intriguing detail, given the kinds of trailers and screenshots she creates, is the potential cast. Warner Bros. obviously has an intimidating stable of IP addresses under their wing, but even so, some potential showdowns are going to be pretty funny.

  • Shaggy (Scooby Doo)
  • Gandalf (Lord of the Rings)
  • Tom and Jerry
  • Batman
  • Fred Flintston
  • Crazy Max
  • Johnny Bravo

There is really only one winner in the battle between Mad Max and Shaggy, but Batman vs. Gandalf will be a battle for the ages.

The original Reddit post suggests NetherRealm (Mortal kombat xi) is a developer, but this has been somewhat refuted by Grubb. When insiders disagree with it, it can get ugly.

As we expected, published by Warner Bros. a multi-franchise fighter actually seems possible, especially since the Nintendo series appears to have a couple of quieter years now.

Let us know what you think of this audacious rumor and speculate who wins the fight between Fred Flintstone and Johnny Bravo.
