We at RyseUp Studios have soon decided that we want to use an open development process. We wanted to create a game that our fans wanted. We’ve released an alpha version of a few levels from the game and continuous updates. Our community provides thoughts, feedback and suggestions. We take the information into consideration and iterate quickly on concepts and features. We test them, release them to the community, listen carefully, and then iterate more.
We are a small team. We don’t have megabucks to throw money at problems. But what we have is a passionate creative agency on our side, Waste Creative, who have been involved in the process from the beginning helping us to be smart about our marketing decisions. So, open development allows us to test features, get valuable feedback, and either build on features like fans or get rid of those we don’t like.
We started open development in August 2020 and it was around this time that we received a wonderful message from the people at Xbox saying that they liked our game and wanted to talk about it. As a small indie developer working on his first game, we were excited to be noticed.
What Exactly is Roboquest?
Well, the year is 2700. Climate change and wars have changed the face of the world we know today. The men lived scattered throughout the desert, struggling to survive.
A young digger named Max stumbles upon an old Guardian robot, lying abandoned in the sand. Active, knowing that the possession of a Guardian will give him an advantage of survival.
Turning on the old Guardian he embarks on a dangerous journey that will take the unlikely couple from dangerous canyons to vast cities seeking answers to mysteries that can save humanity.
It will be difficult. The bad guys and their bosses will stop at nothing to protect the secrets that could decide the fate of humanity.
Our motto for the game is to think fast, shoot faster. Jump on the steel shoes of a high-powered, hypermobile robot and do evil in the evil boots. Battle your way through procedurally generated biomes in an unrecognizable Earth.
Burnt canyons and living cities are rich in secrets to unravel, upgrades and enemies to eradicate. Destroy every Badbot and head of laser shot that gets in your way.
Choose from an arsenal of more than 50 unique handcrafted weapons. Assemble powerful technology. Improve skills and customizations for your character and base camp.
Don’t worry if you’re the only PC player on your team and your friends are all on Xbox, we support cross-platform gaming. And while you’re in chaos, you can push your head toward the octagonal soundtrack composed by Noisecream, and if you don’t know this artist, do yourself a favor and check it out.
Well, it’s for now. We look forward to sharing more details with you about Roboquesta as we get closer to our launch through the Xbox Game Preview program later this year and soon after with Xbox Game Pass.
