Earlier this year, Sony shared a detailed look at the continuation of Eloy’s story with Horizon Forbidden West, but the lack of a release window made many wonder if we’ll see a sequel this year. After rumors following the aforementioned speculation, the release of Horizon Forbidden West has officially been delayed until 2022.
According to a new report from Bloomberg, Eloy’s open world story should continue for some time in the first quarter of 2022, although the exact date has not yet been disclosed. The news was relayed through “someone familiar with the matter,” according to the site following previous announcements from PlayStation’s Hermen Hulst that the game should go to a holiday release in June. While Hulst sounded hopeful that the release’s progress would continue, he did mention that nothing is “definite” yet, leaving room for maneuver in case a delay is imminent.
Game informer reached out to Sony, although there were no comments at the time of this writing.
When Horizon Zero Dawn was first released on the PlayStation 4, it was an instant hit in the PS community. The franchise’s dual nature with futuristic technology in a more tribal society made the parallels between the two worlds unique to the game’s narrative. The Forbidden West promises even more adventure, a bigger world to get lost in, and new ways to master the martial arts and hone Aloy’s skills, and the upcoming journey from Guerrilla Games aims to take what so many loved from the first adventure and make its even better.
