Random: Valve’s latest Steam Deck trailer briefly shows the Switch emulator

Valve Corporation has given Steam Deck fans some pretty big news, confirming that orders for the portable beast will now be processed and shipped without reservation, ending long wait times for potential owners.

To promote the update, a new trailer for the device has been launched, and eagle-eyed viewers have noticed something rather interesting on the dock screen. As was highlighted Nibel on TwitterSwitch emulator icon called Yuzu can be seen on the right side of the screen.

Yuzu is, of course, an open source emulator for Nintendo Switch games, and its appearance in the official Steam Deck trailer sends a pretty big message to current and future Steam Deck owners; Valve doesn’t seem to have a problem with you using third party software like this. Enabling it might be a mistake, but if it is, then it’s a pretty serious mistake.

Nintendo itself doesn’t seem to have it all figured out yet, and we can’t imagine it would be particularly excited to see the Switch emulator promoted in the official Steam Deck trailer, but we’ll see!

You can view the official trailer with a timestamp below; Yuzu software icon appears at the 1:40 mark [Update: It appears that the video has now been set to ‘Private’]
