Random: Tired of Waiting, One Fan Got Genshin Impact on Switch via Android Emulator

When Genshin Impact was first released in 2020, you’d be forgiven for thinking it would be dead evidence that an open-world RPG (*cough* Breath of the Wild clone *cough*) was coming to Switch in some point in the future. You would be right, it will come to Switch at some point in the future…maybe.

Tired of waiting for updates, one fan on Reddit took the transfer process into their own hands and managed to get a version of the game and exactly works on the Nintendo console. In the video (thanks, GameRant) you can see how u/wingsofthygiant was able to load the title on the Switch and, after quite a long load time, even run a little.

A quick look at the video will tell you everything you need to know about whether or not this is an official Switch release (it isn’t). By using an Android emulator, u/wingsofthygiant was able to bring the mobile version of the game to the Switch, or more specifically, to the Switch’s touch screen – the controls weren’t built for the Joy-Con.

This version of Genshin Impact has less of an official port and more of a crafty switch (pun intended), this version is a bunch of long loading screens with a frame rate similar to stop motion animation, so while it technically playable, we’d say other consoles are still ahead.

Of course, official The Genshin Impact version is still supposedly coming to Switch at some point, with miHoYo claiming it is “still in development.” Let’s hope the fans don’t get ahead of them in port.

Do you still want Genshin Impact to come to Switch? Move at a smooth frame rate to the comments to let us know!
