Random: Take a look at GoldenEye 007 playing on 4 different screens

GoldenEye 007 for N64 is a truly revolutionary video game. It was one of the first examples of the FPS genre that showed how viable it could be on consoles, with a great single player campaign backed up by a multiplayer mode that many still enjoy to this day.

However, times have moved on. While many still yearn for local multiplayer in a world that is increasingly focused on online gaming, having to play through a tiny split-screen segment isn’t the most ideal way to experience a game. Plus, you can see where everyone else is on the map!

Fortunately, people in Computing History Center Cambridge has come up with a fairly new way to experience Goldeneye 007 multiplayer on four separate screens.

How exactly this was achieved is probably a bit beyond our technical knowledge, but it appears that one screen was split into four displays, with each segment enlarged to fill the entire display. Sounds like lip service, of course, but the guy in the video claims it took around £8,000 worth of equipment to accomplish the feat. hey.

The good news is that you can experience it for yourself if you live in the UK (or if you don’t mind traveling a decent distance!). As previously reported, former Rare developers will be giving a GoldenEye 007 25th Anniversary talk this Saturday (May 7) at the Computing History Center and you can still get tickets now!

Do you still play GoldenEye 007? Are you happy with the split screen or do you prefer a display like the one above? As always, let us know in the comments.
