Sonic Frontiers is already out for Switch, but that hasn’t stopped Sega from releasing a fresh new TV spot to showcase the game to potential audiences.
For the most part, it’s pretty standard stuff, albeit a little clunky. It juxtaposes the gameplay of Sonic Frontiers (quite explicitly No Switch version, by the way) with footage of a mother and her son rushing home from work/school so they can sit and play while munching snacks. Ouch.
Here we see the usual stuff from the game, including grinding rails, sidestepping, and the new “Cyloop” ability, but what really sold it all didn’t even happen until the very last moment. After the ad shows off the game’s box art, it cuts to a cute little dog (maybe a Pomeranian?) yelling “SEGA!” in most ridiculous possible voice. Sounds familiar? This is how it should be: Scream is the revival of a classic “Sega Creek” that used to accompany the company’s advertising.
Of course, the rest of the ad is the definition itself”hmm”, but the inclusion of Sega’s scream was such a pleasant surprise that we just have to highlight it here. Check it out for yourself:
