Southern Fried Torchik. Blaziken and waffles. Combasken Nuggets. Just don’t tell us that at least one of them didn’t make you salivate. We know there are some Pokémon you won’t hesitate to eat if they’re well cooked, and there’s nothing to be ashamed of.
Either way, all of this is to say that KFC Taiwan is partnering with Pokémon to celebrate the upcoming Pokémon Legends: Arceus by making us eat fried chicken, and if it not makes you wonder if it’s Torchik’s legs, then you probably need to play more Pokemon.
Along with the chicken you usually get, a special Pokémon promotional platter will also include a Pokémon card from one of the Legends starters (Rowlet, Cyndaquil, and Oshawott, all of which will only be semi-delicious) and a red envelope to celebrate the Lunar New Year. The cards seem to be available from January 11th to February 28th, while the envelopes (with Pikachu and Eevee on them!) are available from January 24th to January 30th.
Here is a translation of the menu, courtesy of Bulbanews on the Bulbagarden forum:
“Golden Healthy and Rich Cheese Chicken” (金海派富貴起司雞) is chicken marinated in a golden seafood sauce made with various seafood ingredients, salted egg yolk, onion, chili, garlic, and topped with grated parmesan cheese. It will be available as part of the following six set meals:
Chicken à la carte (NT$66)
Single meal (NT$165)
Meal XL (NT$195)
Meals for couples (NT$320)
Family lunch (NT$668)
Happy New Year Treat (NT$798)
Now we all know how Pokemon card promotional draws worked in the past: Speculators went to McDonalds for hundreds of Happy Meals, grown men beat each other up at Target, people spent hundreds of dollars on cereal, and even got arrested for fraud. …but we’re sure this one will do just fine. Right?
