Spoilers: Don’t read further than this if you haven’t completed the Starfall Street storyline yet!
As we tackle the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet’s Starfall Street quest in which you’ll have to fight a bunch of bases run by Team Star at the request of the mysterious Cassiopeia, we can’t help but wonder… why are these names so weird? The Team Star gangs are called things like “Seguin” and “Chedar” and we were left with the feeling that it was something in Spanish, some kind of anagram or some sort of reference that we just weren’t smart enough to. To obtain.
It turns out that this is the latter – and the names are a reference to the real constellation Cassiopeia, which consists of five stars in the shape of the letter W (it is assumed that this is the chair of Queen Cassiopeia). The Team Star gangs are named after these five stars: Shedar, Kaf, Seguin, Navi, and Ruchba.
But wait! Eat more! See where the bases are on the map and you’ll find that… they are also in the form of Cassiopeia.
There are more fun Easter eggs in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, and we’ve put together a full list of them right here if you’re looking for more:
