Conan O’Brien bless him good sport when it comes to games.

The TV presenter is known to have dabbled in the industry in the past, even hanging out with the likes of Shigeru Miyamoto and Hideo Kojima. But this does not necessarily mean that he always figured out some games like in a recent release Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend Podcast demonstrated.

As our friends on GoNintendo, the story goes that Conan was talking to colleagues on Zoom and accidentally caught a glimpse of a rather nicely decorated living room in the background of one of them. He was quick to praise the employee for her “cool, creative Etsy-style room” before being told it was actually a screenshot from Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Then another colleague turned the screw and stated that the game does not boast the most photorealistic graphics, but “something like The Smurfs“.

Conan’s defense was that the screen was filled with small boxes, but that excuse didn’t seem to fit others in the series. To be honest, we’ve seen some pretty luxurious Animal Crossing dwellings – ones that completely put our real dwellings to shame! If Conan mistook a stylish shack for ours valid house … well, we probably would have rubbed ourselves too, but we would have accepted the compliment anyway!
