Random: Check out this ‘cursed’ selection of Mario characters speaking in full sentences

When you think of the best Mario quotes, there isn’t much to choose from. “It’s me” and “woo-hoo” isn’t something they engrave on their tombstone. Same with Luigi, Toad, Peach and the whole Mushroom Kingdom cohort – it’s all wah-hoo and oh yeah. Hardly Shakespearean material, but it lends to games characterand often their short phrases are so iconic that they become memes in their own right, like Waluigi’s WAAAAAA.

But from time to time, Charles Martinet has to work hard for his money, speaking in full sentences with pseudo-Italian accents of Mario, Luigi and friends – and the good twitter archivist @Destructo_Dan has collected for us many of the most egregious examples. enjoy.

No wonder Peach doesn’t talk much, because her voice is so soft and light that it will probably fly out of her throat if she gets too chatty.

Wario, on the other hand, doesn’t seem to be able to decide if he’s a mafia-type Italian or a weird cartoon version of Mario, who can speak a little more clearly:

The most cursed of all, of course, is Mario himself, partly because you can almost see Charles Martinet sits in the voice recording booth for long, long periods of time, gradually becoming more and more frustrated, trying to insert Italianisms into every sentence:

However, my personal favorite – if you count it in full sentences – is Mario dreaming in Super Mario Odyssey. He simply lists the types of pasta. Because he’s Italian, obviously. Here is a very good animated version by artist and animator Louis Zong:

What makes these full sentences so weird? Is it because we are used to the silence of the main characters of video games, or is it just the absurdity of Mario’s Italian accent?

Tell us what you think, inna da comments! Wahoo!!
