Poll: What is the best Mario Kart game?

Some of us at Nintendo Life Towers are convinced that your favorite Mario Kart game is simply the one you played first with three other players in the same room – or just one other player if you were there in the very beginning with Super Mario Kart at Super NES.

We tend to think so because while we can all agree that the latest entry could be the best in the series, we’re still looking forward to news of the second wave of DLC tracks! When asked to name our personal best Mario Kart game, we give almost as many team responses as there are games in the kart series.

What do we do in difficult times? Of course, we’re talking to Nintendo Life readers! Yes, as with our other reader rating surveys, we ask you to settle the score once and for all and rate every Mario Kart you’ve played from the list below.

Registered Nintendo Life users can click the stars below and rate the games on a 10-point scale. The resulting rating is generated from these volatile NL user ratings and is therefore subject to change. even after posting. If you have previously rated these games in our database, thank you! If not, you can add your score to the game at any time, present or future, and it will still count and potentially affect the order.

So fill up these tanks and let’s race ratin.

Note: We’ve ruled out Mario Kart 8 for Wii U, as having Mario Kart 8 on the list twice seems a bit silly, considering the Deluxe contains everything the non-Deluxe version has and more. We also excluded arcade games from participation – only Mario Karts on your phone or console can officially be played here!

Thanks for rating your favorite games, and let us know if you think there’s anything missing – although, as we said in the intro, we’ve deliberately excluded the arcade versions and the non-Deluxe original Mario Kart 8.

We will publish the results very soon, but remember, just like on our Top 50 platform, the list will be volatile, so even if you miss the vote before the results are announced, you can still influence the ranking after publication.
