Pokémon Legends: Arceus Tops Amazon’s “Best Sellers” Chart, No Surprise

Ahead of the release of Pokémon Legends: Arceus on the Switch tomorrow, the game has already sold out in parts of the world on Amazon.

Physical copies of the game are temporarily out of stock on the Amazon webpages in the US and UK. Even sales of digital codes are going well. The game is currently the website’s top-selling Nintendo Switch game and also tops the charts in both regions as the top-selling video game (on all platforms).

To be fair, anything Pokemon-related sells like hotcakes, and the start of the year has been relatively quiet in terms of blockbuster releases. Many other major games are scheduled to release in February or later. Amazon’s sales of the new Pokémon game are expanding to other parts of the world, as highlighted by a Twitter user. @So_Ethereal:

Admittedly, it can be a bit of an uphill battle for Pokémon Legends: Arceus to match the sales of some of the other Pokémon releases on Switch, as it’s one game, not two separate versions.

Over the past few weeks, Legends has also been subject to leaks and data breaches. Luckily, this didn’t seem to hurt the launch of the game, and reviews have been quite positive.
