Pokémon GO joins 3D Billboard craze in Japan

Today is World Cat Day (you knew that, right?), and while we may not be overwhelmed with national holidays and gifts, the Pokémon Company still managed to deliver a gift to us.

The gift is a series of Pokémon GO-themed 3D billboards that will be on display near Shinjuku Station in Tokyo from today until September 5th.

Due to World Cat Day (seriously, where’s our national holiday?), all of the publicity is centered around the feline-inspired Pokémon that inhabited many of the franchise’s regions. Looking at the first images of billboards, those who were lucky enough to cat-ch will catch a glimpse of performances by Meowth, Espurr, Litten and many more.

The ad will run outside of Shinjuku Station until September 5th, so you’ll have plenty of time to see the board if you happen to live in the area. Let’s hope we get more Pokémon displays in the coming months.

3D billboards have become especially common in recent months, with many pop culture franchises using the new technology to advertise their brands. Check out the examples below for Netflix. Resident Evil series and Square-Enix Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade.

What do you think of these billboards? Are there any cat Pokémon you feel are missing? Let us know in the comments below!
