Pokémon GO Feels The Love, Valentine’s Day Event Announced Next Week

Valentine’s Day 2023 is just under two weeks away, but that hasn’t stopped The Pokémon Company from sprucing up and letting us all know what’s in store for this year’s Love Day at Pokémon GO.

Beginning with February 8, the Valentine’s Day in-game event will continue throughout the week leading up to the big day (February 14, if you’re interested). This year’s celebration will feature the debut of Mega Gardevoir, as well as brilliant Frillish and Tapu Lele variants. This, of course, comes along with the usual announcements for research quests and event rewards.

Pokémon GO 2023 Valentine’s Day Event

This year the event will run from February 8 at 10:00 am to February 14 at 8:00 pm (local time).

Mega Gardevoir

Mega Gardevoir will make its Pokémon GO debut in Mega Raids during the event. The Brilliant variant will be available, so keep an eye out for a chance to grab it.

Evolving Kirlia into Gallade or Gardevoir during the event ensures that your evolved mon knows Charged Attack Sync. This attack will also be known to any encounter with Gallada or Gardevoir after raids.

Temporary study

Throughout the event, it will be possible to take part in the Timed Research quest called “Lovely Wishes”. Completing these quests will allow you to choose a reward: additional experience for catching, bonus candy for catching, or a chance to increase the duration of daily adventure incense.

Regardless of which reward you choose, completing quests will also earn you an encounter with Frillish.

wild encounters

There is a selection of Pokémon that will appear in Wild Encounters during the event.

The flabebe you may encounter depends on your location. The White Flower and Orange Flower options are available worldwide:

  • Red Flower Flabébé: Appearance in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
  • Blue Flower Flabébé: Arrival in Asia-Pacific
  • Yellow Flower Flabébé: Appearance in America

During the event, the following Pokémon will appear in Wild Encounters:

  • Alomomol
  • audiono
  • Chansey
  • Flabebe (red, blue, yellow, white or orange)
  • artsy
  • illuminate
  • Morelull
  • Natural form Furfrou
  • Nidoran♀
  • Nidoran♂
  • Skitty
  • wolbit
  • wubat

Global Challenge Valentine

During the event, a global task related to sending gifts will be available. The competition will run from February 7th to 14th and gives all trainers a chance to unlock some new rewards if the gifting goal (100,000,000 gifts sent) is reached.

These rewards include 3 Carryover Candies for the remainder of the event and 2 XL Carryover Candies for Trainers level 31 and above.

Shape change

During the event, you will be able to change the shape of your Furfrou to Heart Trim Furfrou.

To do this, you will need to select a Pokémon from the vault and click the “Change Shape” button. From there, you will be able to choose any finish for the price of 25 Furfrou Candies and 10,000 Stardust.

  • Likitung

Raids are divided into One Star, Three Star, Five Star, and Mega categories, each of which spawns the following Pokémon:

  • Natural form Furfrou

  • Likitung
  • Miltank
  • Nidokin
  • Nidoquin

5 star raids

Field Research Tasks

Completing field research tasks during the event will give you the opportunity to encounter the following Pokémon:

  • Littleo
  • Luvdisk
  • Morelull
  • pikachu
  • Raltz
  • Spinda with heart pattern

Avatar elements

Both the Fancy Top and Fancy Glasses will be available for purchase at the event. You can also earn stickers by spinning PokéStops, opening gifts, and making purchases.
