Pokemon Shiny Diamond and Shining Pearl were the most popular Switch releases ahead of the holiday shopping season, with early sales data in countries like Japan and the UK pointing to positive results. Now reported about it Gamebiz.jp that the releases went through six million worldwide sales in a week of launch, which is very impressive.
This is a large number and is in the same range as the equivalent Sword and Shield results, suggesting that the remakes had the same appeal as the previous next generation releases. This is remarkable given that this figure is much higher (roughly double) than the equivalent starting sales for Pokemon: Let’s Go Pikachu! and let’s go, Evie!…
This speaks to the ongoing development of Pokémon, and sales are especially noticeable given the preliminary leaks about the game, although it received somewhat mixed press in the press. Ultimately, the combination of the brand, the reworking of the popular generation, and of course the Switch’s continued popularity, helped to achieve another big success.
There will of course be more official updates in the coming weeks, so let’s see how the sales numbers change.
