Today, January 25, 2023, Marvelous announced the release date for Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life in the west, just as the game was released on the Japanese online store at 12:00 noon on January 26 in Japan. This means that some players have chosen to create an account with a Japanese online store (which you can do yourself – we have a guide here!) in order to play the game sooner.
However, the game does not have an option to play in English, so anyone who not Japanese speakers will either have to pick up a ton of agricultural vocabulary in the next few days or – as this Reddit poster above did – use a live translation app to do some useful work for them.
Fan site Harvest Moon Ushi No Tane there is a translation of the Famitsu preview posted last week Jan 20:
The writer has never played farming games before, so the article talks about their mistakes and how they enjoyed life on the ranch… They had a hard time raising cows and stated that the health of their cows had deteriorated. Even after health improved, it was not enough to restore the quality of cattle production.
It was a pleasure to talk to the people of the valley, as the reviewer found it interesting to learn about the characters’ personalities and backgrounds. They admit that they tried to see as much of the game as possible, cycling waking up, watering their crops, and going to bed to end the day early. Once they got the hang of growing crops and cows, they felt they could succeed on their farm.
The writer also notes that the expansions for agricultural buildings have increased in price by four times compared to the GameCube version.
The English version of Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life will release in the West on June 27, 2023.
Will you get the Japanese version of The Wonderful Life so you don’t have to wait, or can you just not worry about reading everything through a translator? Let us know about it in the comments!
