You were wondering that old Peter Molyneux was it until recently? Well, a move very few will find surprising, the infamous designer is jumping into the world of blockchain gaming and NFT bullshit. His next game, Legacy, is all about technology and “cryptocurrency games.”
Molyneux, Who once got a bunch of people tapping on a cube for funannounced yesterday over the weekend Galaverse Gala Games in Las Vegas, what’s his company’s next video game Heritagewhich is described as a “blockchain business simulator”. Raise your hand if you knew there was galavers going on in Las Vegas.
According to Molyneux, he and his company:22 cans– worked on “Heritage” when people in Gala games about being able to do something powerfuld blockchain. Turns out Heritage ideal for “cryptocurrency games”. As Molyneux explains, “every mechanic in Heritage has been adapted for the blockchain environment. ” That’s lovely..?
In a blog post from Gala Games and Molyneux, they explained that Heritage actually is. Or at least tried to to explain it …
V Heritageplayers will create digital products and buildings from thousands of available pieces. These plans are then created by an “army of workers” and after that players can freely trade “anything and everything” with other players around the world to “dominate” the open market.
Apparently, there will be in-game events and competitions that (maybe one day …) will reward players with money and other prizes. But before you start “playing” this “game”, you will need to buy Land NFT before you can start your own in-game blockchain business. And all this will be provided by the new cryptocurrency, LegacyCointhat exists on the Ethereum blockchain.
Heritage and another recently announced FPS, The last expedition, are described by the creators and Gala Games as “playing to make money,” meaning that players can create digital content and goods and then trade or sell those things through the blockchain to make money. This is an interesting idea that has existed without blockchain for many years in various games such as CSGO, Roblox, and more.
Mixing blockchain technology and video games quickly became a hot new idea among publishers and developers
wants to make money quickly wanting to innovate and change the way players interact with games. We recently saw Ubisoft join in defeating NFT.although as usual most people’s reaction was a mixture of confusion or disgust…
NFT, blockchains and cryptocurrencies have been heavily criticized by many over the past few years for a number of reasons, including the horrendous amount of e-waste generated by digital mining sites, then an ongoing strain of miners put an end to the chip shortage and of course the fact that all energy blockchains are eaten up potentially accelerates global warmingg and extremely wasteful.
But ignoring all this, much of what NFT and blockchains promise, the ability to create and sell digital goods in games or virtual worlds already exists and has existed for years without the technology of burning the world. But as long as there are people willing to participate in all of this, there will be people like Molyneux willing to invest in it.
