Over 25 million Switch devices have been sold in Japan.

In just five years since its launch, the Switch has sold 25 million units in Japan. Famitsu. Just last month, the hybrid console overtook the 3DS to become the third best-selling console of all time in the country, and now it has crossed another mark.

Shared on Twitter @NibellionSwitch sales, including OLED, Standard and Lite models, reached approximately 25,010,404 units.

The top five best-selling games in Japan are unchanged from the previous year, and Animal Crossing: New Horizons is still comfortably at the top of the list. The latest game in the life-sim series became the best-selling game in Japan in February.

Rounding out the rest of the list are other popular Nintendo brands: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is just under 2.5 million behind Animal Crossing, with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe — the world’s best-selling Switch game — right behind it. Pokémon Sword & Shield and Splatoon 2 round out the top five.

  • Animal Crossing: New Horizons – 7.26 million
  • Super Smash Bros. Ultimate – 4.89 million
  • Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – 4.66 million
  • Pokémon Sword and Shield – 4.34 million
  • Platoon 2 – 4.08 million

We’ve been getting close to that huge number for a long time, and while hardware sales are expected to slow down, the Switch still performs incredibly well.
