No Man’s Sky 4.0 WayPoint update changes the fundamentals of gameplay – PlayStation.Blog

Hello, 2022 has been one of the busiest years for No Man’s Sky on PlayStation, with Sentinel, Outlaws, Leviathan and Endurance updates released, as well as several other major Expeditions that will be free for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and Playstation VR owners.

But that’s not all. We are pleased to announce that our 4.0 update, Waypoint, is available for download today.

Waypoint brings a design and balance overhaul, including inventory, milestones, cataloging, and game modes. It also features hundreds of community-favorite quality-of-life improvements, both macro and micro.

The inventory has been redesigned, and the maximum level of ships, weapons and players has been significantly increased. Survival, crafting, combat, and controls can now be customized to suit the travelers’ unique play style.

The Relaxed Mode allows for a fresh take on sandbox exploration for travelers old and new. Meanwhile, returning players are welcomed by a new information portal with a summary of their goals and progress.

For longtime players, the new stage system, new collectibles, and improved mission content bring new long-term goals and challenges. With new optimizations and balance, Waypoint allows players to enjoy twenty major updates as one.

We hope this is the best time to be a No Man’s Sky player, whether you’re a new explorer who benefits from our relaxed mode, a returning player who’s welcomed by more cohesive gameplay, or a core player who’s excited for increased level cap and hundreds of quality of life improvements.

The transition from version 3.0 to version 4.0 is arguably our biggest generational leap. This is an exciting moment and marks a solid foundation for future updates. We can’t wait for players to try out Waypoint on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and PlayStation VR starting today.

Our journey continues.
