Nintendo’s FAQ Confirms That Changing OLED Joy-Cons Are Similar to Existing Controllers

Nintendo’s Joy-Cons are very smart and intelligent controls in a variety of ways – HD Rumble, motion controls and the flexibility to be turned sideways for on-the-go multiplayer. However, you don’t have to go far to find someone who has encountered reliability problems with analog sticks – this writer has gone through several together and knows others with similar problems. Luckily not everyone has these problems, but they are certainly a factor.

The “Joy-Con drift” has also led to attempts at legal proceedings, and the persistent hope is that Nintendo will continuously improve its reliability through manufacturing batches. With the The OLED change is announced, however, it is worth noting that their compatibility and the same identity with existing models include Joy-Cons. Taken from an FAQ above The official Nintendo UK website, there is confirmation that even Joy-Cons accompanied with new hardware are the same existing models in the market.

Q4. Can I use the Joy-Con controllers I currently have with Nintendo Switch (OLED model)?

Yes. The Joy-Con controllers included with Nintendo Switch (OLED model) are similar to the controllers currently available.

Not surprisingly, though, we thought it was worth clarifying what we all know as speculation can deceive online.

Here’s hoping that the Joy-Cons manufactured in the current day are a little better at avoiding drift, but it doesn’t necessarily bet.
