Nintendo Switch Sports Version 1.2.2 is now available, online is back

Shortly after Nintendo released an update for Nintendo Switch Sports last week, the rollout needed to be temporarily put on hold due to a bug causing the game to crash. More recently, the company said it would be releasing two updates to address this issue, with the first one already officially launched.
This new update, which is essentially a hotfix, brings the game up to version 1.2.2. Once players have installed this update, they will be able to access multiplayer again. Here are the full patch notes, courtesy of the official Nintendo support page:
Version 1.2.2 (released October 17, 2022)
Error correction
We fixed a bug that occurred during pre-match loading under certain conditions that caused the program to close.
This update data (version 1.2.2) may not solve the problems for some players this time, so we are preparing the next update data distribution (version 1.2.3) for them.
Nintendo also went into detail about separate support page about the next update. Here’s the full rundown:
[Second update]
Update Data (Version 1.2.3) – Planned Release Date: October 19, 2022 (Wednesday)
- Save data backup will resume after this update.
- For some players, the order of items in the “Accessories (Head)” section in “Customize” will be different from its order before the update. It won’t affect the game.
If you are currently a Nintendo Switch Online member and own Nintendo Switch Sports, your membership will be extended by one week (more on this in the future). And between October 17 and November 2, points earned in Play Worldwide will also be doubled across all sports:
- Usually in “Random” or in one sport, 1.1 to 1.3 points are given.
- There are plans to collect rewards missed during this time. Details will follow in the future.
