Nintendo Switch Sports Online functionality will return this week

Nintendo announced that the company is releasing two new updates for Nintendo Switch Sports this week that will hopefully restore online functionality and fix a bug introduced in the game in version 1.2.1 (via VGK).
Since last week’s update, many players have reported that the game is crashing when loading matches – both online and offline – so Nintendo has withdrawn the patch and shut down the Switch Sports servers for the weekend. But today, the company has shared details of a two-part update that aims to address the issue and restore online connectivity for novice Switch Sports players.
The first of the updates, version 1.2.2, comes out on October 18 and is designed to restore the network game. Version 1.2.3 will be released on October 20th and will restore any backup save data you may have for the game. Nintendo said that if you are still trying to go online after ver. 1.2.2, then wait until 1.2.3 loads.
As an apology, Nintendo will also be extending its Nintendo Switch Online subscription (for those who have already signed up for the service and played Nintendo Switch Sports) for a week. And from October 18 to November 3, you’ll get Double Points for online games. It also details that you will be able to get the items you missed later on.
Let’s hope this fixes the issue for everyone, but we’ll keep our finger on the pulse to let you know when the updates come out!
The next major update for Nintendo Switch Sports is still scheduled for the holiday season when golf comes to the game.
