Nintendo eShop Choice – May 2022
Okay, yes, we know we’re a bit late with the May eShop Selects, but come on, it wasn’t E3 season! However, we are here again to collect the best deals of the month; sure, it’s been relatively quiet for the most part, but that doesn’t mean there weren’t diamonds lying around in the rough (maybe we even got a little sassy and turned on a boxed game or two this month – hey, it’s been quiet, Good?).
So let’s hack then! Well, first let’s round up a few honorable mentions that didn’t quite make it into our top 3, but they’re still worth checking out no matter what.
In the meantime, of course, be sure to check out the assortment of the online store for April!
3. OPUS: Echo of Starsong – Full Bloom Edition (Switch eShop)
Publisher: Shigono / Developer: Shigono
Third place goes to the wonderful storytelling game OPUS: Echo of Starsong. In our review, we called it “an emotional adventure that represents the pinnacle of the series to date and certainly one of the best story-driven games on the Switch”, highlighting the incredible atmosphere and emotional weight the story carries.

2. PAC-MAN+ MUSEUM (switch)
Publisher: Bandai Namco / Developer: Bandai Namco
Silver medal this month goes to PAC-MAN MUSEUM+, a delightful selection of some of the iconic character’s most original releases over the years. It has a lot to offer, with online leaderboards and missions to complete, and we just loved how solid the emulation was for each game. Some extraneous content may have been a bit lacking, but that doesn’t detract from the fact that this collection includes some of the greatest games of all time.

1. Citizen Sleeper (Switch Online Store)
Publisher: Companion / Developer: Jump over the age
And in first place this month is Citizen Sleeper, a game that many of our employees have enjoyed. Its strong storytelling and writing can be compared to the incredible Disco Elysium, and we especially enjoyed the beautiful art style on display along with the amazing synth-wave soundtrack. Definitely worth a purchase if you like strong RPGs!

How do we decide that our online store chooses the top three: As we get closer to the end of each month, Nintendo Life staff members vote on their favorite games from a list of games handpicked by the editors. To be included in this list, these games must be released digitally only on the Nintendo Switch eShop in that particular month and must be verified on Nintendo Life; we choose suitable games based on their ratings in reviews.
Employees are then asked to vote for the three games they think deserve to be at the top of this list; the first choice gets 3 points, the second choice gets 2 points, and the third choice gets 1 point. Those votes are then counted to make a list of the top three, with the overall winner receiving that month’s top prize.
