Well, here’s a surprise – Nintendo has added support for the N64 wireless controller in Super Mario 3D All-Stars version Super Mario 64…
In other words, you can now play the classic Mario game for the N64, similar to how it was before when the game was originally released on the N64. Here are the full patch notes for version 1.1.1, courtesy of the official Nintendo support page:
Ver. 1.1.1 (released November 3, 2021)
- Super Mario 64 now supports an exclusive Nintendo 64 controller for Nintendo Switch Online members (sold separately). Players can now play this game using the same controls as the original Nintendo 64.
This follows from version 1.1.0 (released last November), which added GameCube controller support to Super Mario Sunshine. You can read more about this in our previous post.
So done – you can now play the NSO version of Super Mario 64 with the original controller, as well as the time-limited version of 3D All-Stars, which is no longer on sale.
