New Rainbow Six Extraction Trailer Oozes Alien Action

Between the huge presentations at today’s Sony Showcase, there was a reminder that Rainbow Six Extraction was lurking around the corner. Following a recent delay next year, Team Rainbow operators are gearing up to defend the world from the threat posed by a typical terrorist organization.

Rainbow Six Extraction builds on what makes Siege great. The player will team up as the chosen operator with a group of other operators, but instead of fighting another team of humans, Extraction’s enemies are of alien origin. Throughout the trailer, we see footage of various extraterrestrial creatures sneaking around the surroundings in an effort to knock players off their feet. Bipedal masses with thorns instead of limbs and animal-like creatures crawling on the ground are just the tip of what Rainbow has to deal with. The creeping black substance spreads through the environment, destroying everything it touches and laying claim to it for these alien monsters.

Team Rainbow operators are far from helpless against hordes from space. As with competitive Siege, players have tools of destruction and suppression at their fingertips. Walls can still be destroyed by taking hammers or ballistic weapons with you to take them down. The same walls can also be reinforced with a protective shield that can be placed in vulnerable places.

Rounding out the footage, Ubisoft puts together an impressive list of what players can expect from Rainbow Six Extraction. 18 operators to choose from, 12 maps that change over time, 13 missions to start, cross play, progression, cooperative play and the list goes on. The package looks tempting. Rainbow Six Extraction will release in January 2022 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X / S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

The extraction will be my first foray into modern-day Rainbow Six, and his connection to Seige is intriguing as a starting point for a more competitive game. Are you a fan of Seige and want to dive into this new adventure? Or are you new to this version of Rainbow Six like me? Let me know what you think of this co-op shooter in the comments.
