Update [Thu 15th Dec, 2022 16:30 GMT]: After releasing a Japanese trailer last week showcasing the many features available in the base area of Fire Emblem Engage, Nintendo has released the full English translation, which you can find below.

In addition to confirming that the amiibo will be compatible with the game, the trailer also includes a bit more information about what we’ll be able to do between battles. These features include inheriting skills from emblems, cooking stat-boosting dishes, and of course, a fishing mini-game.

Original article [Sat 10th Dec, 2022 00:30 GMT]: If you’re planning to add Fire Emblem Engage to your Nintendo Switch library in January and are wondering if you’ll be able to use your amiibo collection in the game, read on…

Nintendo has officially confirmed that players will be able to use amiibo to unlock additional goodies. Regular amiibo will provide you with some “useful” items for your adventure, while Fire Emblem amiibo will unlock themed content such as character costumes and even songs from past games. Here is a rough translation, courtesy of Google:

“Fire Emblem Engage” supports amiibo. All amiibo figurines can be used to unlock useful items for your adventure. In addition, by picking up a Fire Emblem amiibo figure, you can receive heraldry warrior costumes and songs from past works that feature heraldry warriors.”

This same feature was also showcased in the new preview trailer (see below). This follows an announcement at The Game Awards yesterday, revealing that Fire Emblem Engage will receive an expansion pass. The first wave of content (four waves in total) will be launched with the game on January 20 next year.
