Blizzard is now accepting pre-orders for a large special offer worth almost $100. Diablo IV collectible box that includes a lot of things. But that doesn’t include the game. And while Blizzard isn’t trying to get people to accidentally buy this box without the games, it still seems very odd that there’s no way to even get a game with this expensive package of demonic goodies.

Expensive collector’s editions of video games and films have become increasingly popular in the last decade. Personally, I never felt the need for all the random gadbins and figurines usually included in these expensive sets, but I get it. Some people just really like to collect everything related to their favorite franchise or series. Everything that floats on your boat! Just don’t get confused and don’t think like that 100 dollars Diablo IV collectible box actually includes the game it’s named after!

Blizzard started taking pre-orders this week for what it calls Diablo IV Limited collector’s box in the merchandise store. This big nifty looking box will set you back a cool $96.66 (I see what you did there…) and includes all of these items:

  • Occult Mouse Pad
  • Sanctuary Cloth Map
  • Horadrim Badge
  • Diablo IV Collector’s Edition Artbook
  • Matte Fine Art (x2) – 18.54″ x 10.79″

It’s very good and all, but you’ll notice that the game isn’t part of that expensive package. Now Blizzard is not trying to deceive anyone. It is clear in the store description that this box does not contain the game. He also sells the box not on but on his website, further separating it from the video game store. So I’m not trying to say that Blizzard is trying to do something faster and fool the diehard. Diablo players have shelled out over $100 for something that doesn’t include an upcoming ARPG. I’m just saying it’s a little weird, that’s all!

I think for people who prefer to buy a digital copy of the game through a third party site, or want to give a physical gift to someone who already has a pre-order for the game, this is a good idea. But why not make another version that costs $60-70 more and includes the code for the game? Or even a discount on it! Although things like this can make things more confusing.

However, Diabo IV will be released June 6, 2023 on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4 and PC. If you want, don’t buy this box. Or do, but then buy the game separately.
