Namco’s groundbreaking Dragon Buster to replace this week

Hamster announced that the next entry in his long-standing Arcade Archives series will be the 1984 title Namco. Dragon hunter

Notable for being one of the first arcade games to combine RPG elements with world map-based level selection, Dragon Buster has followed in the footsteps of the equally influential co-op game Namco. Druaga Tower and includes many other innovations such as the ability to dash and double jump.

Since Dragon Buster has never been ported to any systems in the west, Dragon Buster’s contributions to games are largely ignored outside of Japan. In its homeland, it received conversions to the NEC PC-8801, Sharp MSX2 and Nintendo Famicom – it did not officially enter the West until it was included in Namco Museum Volume 2 for the original PlayStation.

A sequel to the Famicom Japan-only titled Dragon Hunter II: Yami no Fuuin PlayStation remake followed Dragon Valor

If you want to delve into this piece of game history, then tomorrow (December 9) Dragon Buster will be released at the regular price of $ 7.99 / € 6.99 / £ 6.29. While you’re at it, you can also check out the game’s comprehensive features on Hardcore 101
