Minecraft Live 2021 is almost on the doorstep, and this Saturday, October 12th, we’ll find out what awaits us in the beloved block mining video game.

For a week, Jens Bergensten and Agnes Larsson, lead designer and game director for Minecraft respectively, teased some of the content ahead of the weekend’s broadcast. Here’s what we know at the moment – and of course we’ll update that as we learn more.

What to expect from Minecraft Live 2021

A vote between the three new mobs in the game is scheduled for October 16th. This crowd vote is how we got it Glowing squid after the 2020 Minecraft Live broadcast, which was defeated by Moobloom (a flower-themed cow) and Iceologer, an illager who hurls flying ice clouds.

So far, Mojang has announced two mobs:

Allay

Allay

Allay is a friendly mob that takes items and finds more – for example, if you need sticks, bones or emeralds. He also dances and flies. He’s adorable. If your world has a note block, it will leave the found items there.

Glare

Glare

One of the main changes that will happen in Minecraft in the second part of “Caves and Rocks” is the way mobs appear. Currently, if the light level is low, you will see creepers, zombies, skeletons and more, but soon this will only happen in general darkness, which means that your buildings will no longer be lit by torches. Glare can help you in this regard: he will fly into dark areas and throw a tantrum because he hates the dark. Thanks, Glare!

Minecraft Dungeons Information

Minecraft Dungeons have garnered a lot of attention over the past year thanks to the sheer amount of DLC and cross-platform play, so it’ll be interesting to see where this RPG-style spin-off takes place.

Minecraft is based on the creativity of the community, and he knows it – the site publishes them regularly, just like Minecraft Live. We’ll likely see some fun creative builds and community servers during the show.

Smash Bros and amiibo

Steve and Alex are getting amiibo, so we’ll probably see them streaming this week – maybe scanning them will do something special in Minecraft?

Minecraft VR / AR

Minecraft VR came out late last year on PSVR, but do you remember that incredible Hololens demo with alternate reality at E3 2015? Yes, this is a VERY script, EXTREMELY misleading and almost DEFINITELY not consumer-ready, but it would still be nice to hear more about it. Not that it has much of an impact on Switch players.

Caves and rocks, part 2

We may see a little more about the second part of the update, including biome generation, new mobs, and how Schalk’s sensors work!

Caretaker

We’d Indeed I’d love to see some more terrifying, hard-to-kill new overseer mob living in the new Deep Dark Biome, ready to cook all the shit for you.

Some moderate assumptions

This is not a concert without a lot of unfounded rumors, is it?

New boss?

The original announcement trailer was … bullshit, to be honest. In a good way, of course, but promised three things: Quadromorphic Ender Vision. Pillager Raid-eo Sound and BEACON broadcasting system.

But maybe it was all wrong enough the same nonsense as we thought. Some people speculate that the Ender Vision represents the Ender Dragon, the sound of the Pillager Raid-eo represents … obviously the Pillager Raids, and the BEACON is a hint of the wither you need to defeat in order to create the Beacon. These are three boss fights in Minecraft … so can we see more?

Of course, we already know about the Overseer … Could it be him?

Overseer

Release date?

We’ve all been patiently waiting for the Caves & Cliffs Update Part 2, which will bring a new generation of world, new mechanics, Deep Dark Biome and new mobs to the game. All we know about it at this point is that it should be released “later this year” … But Minecraft Live is the perfect time to tell us exactly when.

The latest Minecraft snapshot – a preview of upcoming updates – is 21w40a, which is an improvement on the first Caves & Cliffs Part 2 snapshot, 21w37a. This snapshot changed the distribution of ore, fixed world generation errors and the rules for spawning mobs, but it is not yet clear how close it is to release.

Brand partnerships?

Minecraft LEGO has been a huge success, so we won’t be surprised if we see new sets or other collaborations with other companies. How about Minecraft Colourpop palette? After all, Animal Crossing has this …

Another update?

Last year’s Minecraft Live introduced us to the Caves & Cliffs update … so we might find out what comes next year. Or we could just give the Minecraft developers a nap.
